Oatie Biscuits

Our teenage son often gives the impression he is ill-fed. He can be found lingering around the fridge, often asks the same question repeatedly, “What time are we having dinner?’ and seems to become more affectionate when I am dishing up food. As endearing as this is I have found some snacks help and he especially likes these Oaties or Oatie biscuits which are easy to make and often fought over.

125g Butter

125g Self-raising Flour

125g Light brown soft sugar

125g Porridge Oats

½ teaspoon Bicarbonate of soda

1 Tablespoon of Golden Syrup

1)    Mix flour, sugar, oats and soda.  Set aside.

2)    In the microwave, (20 sec bursts) melt butter and syrup.

3)    Combine the ingredients.

4)    Divide mixture into 12-15 balls.  Arrange on a baking sheet. Squash and flatten.

5)    Bake 15- 18 minutes 180C

6)    Allow to cool for 3 minutes then transfer to a wire rack
