The festival is inspired by the annual September harvesting of Loch Ryan’s unique Scottish native oysters. Visitors can look forward to cooking demos, wild foraging expeditions, live music, kids’ activities and Scotland’s first Oyster Shucking Championships.

And, if you want to eat some oysters, we suspect that you won’t struggle to find some.

The many professional artists – painters, potters, sculptors, furniture makers, jewellers, textile artists and photographers, who work on the Cowal peninsula in the midst of the beautiful Argyll countryside, open their doors to visitors on these four days (and on other times by appointment). From Cairndow to Lochgoilhead, Dunoon and Toward, from Strachur to Otter Ferry. Tighnabruaich coastline and many beautiful places in between. Come and see what lies behind the closed doors and beyond the garden gates.

On 11th – 13th May this year Loch Fyne Oysters will celebrate their fortieth birthday with a “Fyne at Forty” weekend festival.

Over the two-day “Fyne at Forty” event, festival goers will be given access to areas normally closed to the public, such as the oyster sheds where each oyster is graded, purified and hand-checked for freshness before being despatched to one of many customers around the world.

There will be champagne tours of nearby historic Ardkinglas House, and you can test your chef skills in our oyster shucking competition or practice your navigation with our treasure hunt amidst the fantastic Loch Fyne scenery.

An evening ceilidh will take place on Friday 11th May followed by a spectacular fireworks show over the Loch.

Children can get their faces painted before being entertained with musical activities and the grown-ups can unwind with demonstrations from top chefs, watercolour painting and wine and whisky tasting. There will be great food available, and great music to enjoy in the entertainment beer marquee.
