Spring Equinox
The long wait to feel the sun on our faces has come and yet as I drove along the shore road today sleet and hail pelted itself at the windscreen. It didn’t feel like a spring day. Despite the lack of the suns rays there are many clues that Spring has sprung.
The lambs, the softening of the earth, evidence of worms in the soil, the migrating birds flying north and the yellow splashes of daffodils. The longer days are a promise of warmer weather to come even if it hasn’t arrived yet!
All over the world, we are having days and nights, which are almost equal and it’s all down to our tilted earth. We point away from the sun and its winter; towards the sun, we all warm up and summer is here. At the equinox, we are neither here nor there. I don’t know about you but the next time you feel the suns heat on your face, I think it’s worth a moment of reflection on how the seasons keep life interesting.
