My Family and other animals
I read ‘My Family and Other Animals’ by Gerald Durrell when I was a child. I read it again recently. Remembering the novel had brought to mind the beauty of the Mediterranean and its people, Durrell’s description of his family and the island they lived on was so evocative. I could almost taste the warm air and the dirt laying under the bushes which Durrell crawled through searching for animals. If you didn’t get a chance to read this when you were a child, take the opportunity now. Accept it for its simplicity and read it for what it is. A nostalgic visit to a time well past.
