We live in a remote area, and unless we want to drive around the hills, we need to take a boat to get to the mainland.  This does cause occasional cultural inconveniences when the last ferry clashes with something we want to go and see in the city.

We are lucky enough however to have a little local cinema, and together with the LIVE Cinema Season, we can see shows from the Royal Opera House, The Royal Shakespeare Company or West End shows form the National Theatre.  Quite fantastic when you consider you are watching something so wonderful and the person sitting next to you is wearing their wellies.
