Contemporary painting exploring marine systems, movement and intervention

Swimming Souls has been selected for the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour exhibition and awarded the SABA (Scottish Artists Benevolent Award) — a true honour.

My practice examines the tension between organic life and imposed structure. Working in oil, watercolour and ink, I explore migratory fish and coastal environments as living systems — fluid, resilient and increasingly shaped by human intervention.

Field studies made along Scotland’s west coast inform the work. Sketches and watercolours developed in wild coastal locations are translated in the studio into layered oil paintings where movement, erosion and structure converge.
